3 Weird Molds We Love! And...how to get rid of the ones we don’t.
Mold, the annoying fungi that reminds you to clean your shower. Ugh. But, it can also be kind of cool. Mold can be manipulated to become creative and beautiful science + art projects, taste great, and even save lives. But, there are certain types of mold that can get really gross and have the potential to cause health issues. Let’s delve deeper into this, shall we?
Natural things have a certain beauty to them, don’t they? In this study, researchers harnessed the power of nature to create art with none other than a semi-intelligent slime mold (sighs wistfully). Using the power of nature to create beautiful art forms? Kind of like Bare Living, right?
Our tummies love this version of mold. The creamiest version of dairy, cheese is the delicious result of milk that has been acidified, combined with an enzyme, and aged. Try it shredded and baked in a Ham Quiche Cup, or when you’re feeling indulgent: alongside vino and charcuterie. Yum!
Penicillin, the life-changing mold juice proved to be capable of killing a wide range of really disgusting bad bacteria (streptococcus, meningococcus, and the diphtheria bacillus). It heralded the dawn of the antibiotic age.
Now, let’s talk about the molds that aren’t our favorites. The ones that tend to fester in wet or damp spots of our homes under our own noses and produce allergens and irritants. You know - like a horror movie.
Common Knowledge: Mold loves damp areas - surfaces where water may leak, bathrooms after a shower was left moist and unattended? Yeah, mold loves that ish.
What you can do: Make sure you keep any and all areas that are prone to mold well-ventilated! Air out the space and discourage gross bacteria with natural fungicide: Bare Oils Tea Tree Oil. Diffuse away!
And for any mold issues that you have now? Easy. DIY Mold Away Spray.
Use small funnel to combine water and Bare Oils Tea Tree Oil in your spray bottle. Place the lid on tightly and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds to combine your liquids.
Once mixture is combined, mist on affected areas and wipe clean. Before each use, make sure the ingredients are combined! Then, shake, shake, shake it like a polaroid picture.
