Getting the job done
Every room in your home should reflect you. Your rooms should be functional enough to take on your beautifully chaotic and wonderfully messy, everyday; as well as flexible enough to cater to future plans - like a family. Each month we’ll be highlighting a different room in the home and providing you with tips and tricks to help ensure your home is the best reflection of...you! Let’s start with your Home Office.
Simplify, Create, Work
Your home office is one of the few places you can truly call yours. It’s the space where creativity is inspired and productivity fostered. It’s your place where ideas are made, important meetings are held, and dreams are achieved.
More often than not, your home office gets overlooked - piles of paper on the desk (who even uses paper anymore? Save those trees! Go digital!), a mess of cords cluttered underneath and around the furniture, etc. This clutter, this mess, is this really the best reflection of you?
Storage and organization are key to simplifying your workflow. Let’s start with your desk: is there a pile of mail, invoices, and notes in a clutter in the corner? Ask yourself: Do I use these items every single day? Do they need to be within arm’s reach? If so, take care of them. Look for a compact, tiered rack that provides space for your mail, invoices, and notes.
Now, examine your walls and get some inspiration going with a mood (or thankful) wall. It can be a struggle to focus and find the positive, creative energy you need to get you going. Grab some decorative tape and square off a 3ft x 4ft block of wall-space to hone in your vision for the week.
Or, perhaps showcasing the progress of your long-term goals is more your speed? Equip yourself with your decorative tape, post-its, and a pen. Map out your long-term and short-term goals on the wall and watch your progress come to fruition.
Think of your walls as blank canvases. Utilize them to make your dreams happen.
Create Naturally and Work Productively
If you can, use the sunshine the day gifts you. Natural light not only benefits your vision, boosts your Vitamin D intake, and welcomes you into the day - but it also leads to higher productivity and improved mood. Dress your home office with natural, light fabrics such as cotton or linen window curtains to help keep bugs and other annoyances out of your space, while still allowing the light to shine through. For an extra touch of guaranteed productivity, occasionally spritz your curtains with a Bare Oils-Powered Elixir. This not only freshens up the air, but it’s also like dry cleaning for these larger, harder-to-clean fabrics. It’s a win-win!
Burning the midnight oil? Utilize energy-saving materials such as LED Bulbs. Light-Emitting Diode (LED) is a lighting technology that is energy-efficient, durable, and provides a mix of red, green, and blue LEDs typically used to make white light and mimic natural light. If you haven’t made the switch, do so. The light quality is friendlier to the earth and the eyes.
