Live Bare Amber Feature: Tamanu
Where It Comes From
The origins of Tamanu oil can be found on the coasts of tropical Southeast Asia and the Polynesian islands (specifically found in Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malasia, South India, Sri Lanka, and the Melanesian, and Polynesian islands). Derived from Tamanu trees (otherwise known as Ati trees), our Tamanu oil is exclusively derived from nuts hand picked and gathered off tropical shores.
After distillation, the aroma of Tamanu is concentrated to a natural nutty scent. Rich, woody, and spicy.
The Tamanu tree’s unique advantage with being cultivated along the shoreline is that it’s roots absorb nutrients from the present soil as well as the vitamin-rich components of the present coral. This results in an extremely beneficial oil which can be used alone, or for added benefits, combined with equally powerful essential oils.
When used alone, Tamanu oil has been used for centuries as a cure-all for skin conditions.
Tamnu oil is known for it’s remarkable healing powers and pain-soothing abilities due to the variety of nutrients present.
A few benefits of Tamanu oil are:
- Tamanu’s moisturizing omega fatty acids = soothes and works to moisturize dry skin (and lips if your lips are feeling dry and cracked).
- Tamanu is antimicrobial = targets problem areas and works to heal. Often used to treat not only dry and broken skin, but acne-prone and scarred skin.
- Tamanu is known to promote skin cell regeneration
Tamanu oil, when used alone is a powerful healer. When combined with other ingredients with healing properties (ie. Frankincense), the results are incredible. Tamanu oil is present in our very own, Live Bare Amber. Have you tried it yet? Let us know: @yorhealth or #livebare
