This year, we want you to accomplish your goals. Accept that there will be speed bumps along the way and continue to work towards your dreams. Whether your goals are short-term, long-term, personal, financial, professional, etc., they’re all important.
Every goal is a stepping stone to the next. Seeking out goals is completely achievable and realistic. You just have to know where to start!
Set the Mood
That’s right. Just for yourself. Grab a notebook and a pen, find a cozy place, and make sure you have some time set aside to think about what is important to you. The first step in this process is to have a positive mindset.
Do whatever makes you feel the most comfortable - whether that’s curling up in a blanket or finding a quiet space in a park. These are your goals - so do what you want.
Write Things Down
So, why write down your goals? According to a study conducted by Gail Matthews at Dominican University, those who wrote down their goals accomplished significantly more than those who did not.
Write down goals that:
- align to your life values.
- work for all areas of your life.
- are realistic.
- require baby steps.
When you choose goals that are realistic - and actually attainable - you will often find you achieved more than you set out to.
Tip: Invite Rosemary
Rosemary can aid in concentration, mental preparedness, increasing energy levels, and soothing nerves. It’s the perfect oil to help keep you in a positive frame of mind when you’re brainstorming. For added help with concentration during your goal sesh, diffuse or dilute and apply.
If you don’t have accountability, you might find that you have trouble following through. Accountability presents the obligation to report, explain, or justify your progress.
Hold yourself accountable by:
- being in the right mindset.
- making your goals a priority.
- practicing gratitude.
- developing a personal growth plan.
- educating yourself on your goal(s).
- being specific about your goals, instead of too broad.
- tracking your progress.
- periodically revisiting your goals.
- finding an accountability partner.
Make updates and additions to your goals. Be flexible, but stay determined. Not only does this plan serve as a map of your journey, but it also helps you stay accountable with yourself and continue to move in the right direction.
Lastly, don’t forget to reward yourself when you reach a goal - no matter how small or large it is! We bet you’ll find that many areas in your life begin to progress and move in positive directions.
Make 2017 your best year yet!
